This year, the 25th IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) took place in Bari. From October 5 to 9, researchers, designers, and experts exchanged ideas on innovations in the field of mixed and augmented reality.
The Interactive Media Lab Dresden contributed a paper to the TVCG ISMAR Special Issue and was involved in a TVCG paper presented at the conference. The lab was represented at the event by Julián Méndez and Mats Ole Ellenberg.
EuroVis 2026 returned, after more than a decade, to the islands of the UK. The historic Nottingham hosted the 28th Eurographics Conference on Visualization from June 8 to 12. Two works of our lab were presented at this event. On the one hand, Benjamin Russig presented the full paper “Tubes or Ribbons? Comparing Texture-space Visualization for Multivariate Line Data”. On the other hand, Julián Méndez presented “nev: A Visual Query Tracer and Builder for Declarative Logic Programming on Nemo” as a poster and demo.
Despite the record-breaking heat, this year’s Long Night of Science once again brought many visitors to the Interactive Media Lab, giving us the opportunity to share our latest research and projects.
This year’s OUTPUT once again featured a variety of student projects from our Interactive Media Lab, as well as an award for an excellent thesis.
At the Faculty of Computer Science, Institute of Software and Multimedia Technology, the Chair of Multimedia Technology within the Cluster of Excellence “Centre for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop” (CeTI) offers a project position as Junior Research Group Leader (m/f/x) in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) starting at the earliest possible date. Further details regarding tasks, requirements, application deadline, and submission process can be found in the official job posting.
From April 19 to 22, 2026, the Dagstuhl Seminar “Exertion and Fatigue in Body-Based Interactive Systems” took place at Schloss Dagstuhl. Among the invited participants was our group member Katja Krug, who contributed to the interdisciplinary exchange.

This week, on April 21, 2026, we had the pleasure of hosting Pavel Manakhov, PhD, from the School of Computing and Communications, Lancaster University, for a one-day visit to the Interactive Media Lab Dresden. During his stay, we presented a selection of our current demos and exchanged ideas on current research topics.

This year’s edition of the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, widely regarded as the leading venue in Human-Computer Interaction, was held in Barcelona, Spain from April 13 to 17, 2026. Under the theme “Creant el demà junts” (“Creating Tomorrow Together”), the conference brought together researchers, designers, and practitioners from around the world. Six members from the IML team (Raimund Dachselt, Mats Ole Ellenberg, Julian Baader Katja Krug, Susmita Khadse, Weizhou Luo) attended the conference, contributing two full papers, one submission to the Student Mentoring Program, and four workshop submissions.
Raimund Dachselt and Katja Krug co-organized the workshop “Beyond Fatigue: Building an Ergonomic Future for XR” as part of the first AlpCHI conference, which took place in March 2026 in Ascona, Switzerland. Katja Krug also attended the conference in person.
