Over the last two weeks, we were delighted to welcome another distinguished guest to the Interactive Media Lab Dresden: Prof. Can Liu, Professor of Human-Computer Interaction at the City University of Hong Kong.
Chronicle: Year 2025
We recently welcomed a special guest to the IMLD: Prof. Tim Dwyer from the Department of Human Centred Computing at Monash University, Australia. As one of the leading figures in the field of Immersive Analytics, he brought with him extensive expertise and inspiring insights into current research trends that are highly relevant to our own work.
On May 12, 2025, Patrick Reipschläger successfully defended his dissertation.
In his doctoral dissertation “Augmented Displays – Combining Interactive Displays with Head-Mounted Augmented Reality”, he introduces a new class of hybrid user interfaces (HUIs) – so-called Augmented Displays.
This year’s ACM CHI was held in Yokohama, Japan, from April 26 to May 1. IML Dresden was on site with 6 people (Raimund Dachselt, Mats Ole Ellenberg, Katja Krug, Weizhou Luo, Julián Méndez, and Marc Satkowski). The Lab was involved in a total of three full papers, one of which is a journal paper (TOCHI), and four workshops which dealt with topics in mixed reality, AI, and affective interaction.
This year’s IEEE VR conference took place in Saint-Malo, France, from March 7th to March 13th. The Interactive Media Lab joined the event, represented by Mats Ole Ellenberg and Katja Krug.
From February 16 to 21, the seminar Visualizing Data on Non-Flat, Non-Rectangular Displays took place at Schloss Dagstuhl. This interdisciplinary seminar was organized by Raimund Dachselt together with Anastasia Bezerianos (Université Paris-Saclay, INRIA, CNRS, FR) and Wesley J. Willett (University of Calgary, CA). Among the 23 participants was also our group member Ricardo Langner and our former colleague Konstantin Klamka, who both received an invitation to the seminar.
At a general meeting of the Transregional Collaborative Research Center 248 Center for Perspicuous Computing (CPEC), Raimund Dachselt was elected as the new spokesperson. Since January 2025, he has headed the transregional research network – together with the now vice spokesperson, Prof. Holger Hermanns, from Saarland University.
