In the modern industry landscape products and processes are getting more and more komplex. Nearly every facility or machine contains information technological components. This fact is reflected by the concept of industry 4.0 by the German government, which shows the need of coalescing information technology with product research and development.

One central point of the project will be the combination of structural resources like the CAVE (KTC), Multitouch-Display-Wall and collaborative interaction laboratory (IML) and the UPI-Laboratory (Usability within the process industry, PLT) for collaborative use. Tools and interfaces need to be analyzed, standardized and implemented where necessary. This will be the foundation on which the proposal consortium will than develop and present interdisciplinary interaction and simulation techniques.

The result will be a tested infrastructure and application-oriented scenarios to represent interdisciplinary research competences and to acquire new research and industry projects an that foundation. The consortium aspires the integration of additional researchers and resources of the devision, for example to apply the results of medical, energy and material fields.

The participating researchers hold top position within the devision of the engineering, which is proved by various DFG and EU projects, projects of applied research, publications and scientific-technical activities.
