This paper presents funded concepts for a mobile intuitive user interface, based on an existing desktop system for operational planning in major damage situations. In a world of increasing threats and disasters the focus is set on the importance of an organized emergency response. MobiKat, a system developed for operative planning and implementation of large scale operations, is addressed to this task. First and foremost, administrative bodies rely on secure and efficient decisions in case of emergency. Within the scope of this research paper, attention is given to the state of the art. Alongside this, a profound analysis has been conducted in order to present the gained insights in clearly structured layout and operating concepts for an ubiquitous tablet application. This process results in the planning and creation of a functional prototype which will subsequently be available for further evaluation.
